As many as 140 people have died and  200 have been injured after three devastating landslides hit kerala’s wayanad district a amid heavy rain multiple agencies including NDRF have joined  the rescue ops in the hilly areas near meppadi. the landslide destroyed several houses upproted trees and made water bodies swell, hampering the rescue work.

The death toll in landslide – affected wayanad in Kerala rose to over 180 on Wednesday amid intensified rescue operations and setting up of infrastructure, including bridges , by the Indian army, Navy and Air force teams at present, more than 200 people are missing and over 3,000 affected persons have been the worst affected areas, including churalpara , vellarimla , mundakyil and pothukalu .

Rescue teams from the army , and NDRF

are working together to search for survivors amid challenging weather conditions. Multiple agencies are coordinating efforts to provide essential assistance to those affected. The bodies of the deceased are being transported to hospital morgues for identification autopsy
